Assessment Y1S2: SFX

19 Jul

Yesterday I went to Uni and finally got all my work handed in. Year One; complete!

I also stopped by to do my Special FX assessment, this was based on the ability to create, apply and remove a bald cap (you may have seen me post my home practice on on myself previously!)

The general idea I developed for my final piece focussed on demons and was created as an artistic concept for a comic book antihero. Something you might see in Batman perhaps.

Whilst I did get assessed on the above, my final product actually had the bald cap covered by black crow feathers, but I think this looks great. I created the horns with millenary wire and furniture foam, which I then sprayed black.

A big thank-you to my model Mary! I couldn’t have done it without you!

Animal Testing & Cruelty

31 Oct

Having been vegetarian for almost three years now I have been vaguely aware of the fact that the world is full of cruel and disgusting people who feel they have the right to use animals for their own self gain and show no respect to the animals they are killing.

Rabbits strapped in for testing.

Although being vegetarian certainly helps the cause, I have had my eyes opened properly and I realised how much of this sick practice goes on in the world and I am ashamed to have been brought up in such a society. From this point forward I shall make conscious decisions about every product I buy, pushing to get rid of all animal sourced products in my life. As far as this blog is concerned, this also means within the cosmetics industry. I shall be back to talk about this soon, but in the meanwhile, please watch this video, and take note of the list of the evil companies that support hurting animals so they can make money.

More on this at a later date!
