Shoot: Victorian England vs. Día de Muertos

25 Apr

Today I shot with Photographer Martin Beaumont and Lunar Rising (Aka Abi Wright).

The shoot was to be based on Victorian England and  Día de Muertos. Martin had wanted to add the  Día de Muertos element to his portfolio and I was keen on getting some body painting practice so was happy with this option. Martin had found a brilliant location, where we would be able to shoot it old Victoria Carriages… so we thought we would try add a little twist to the Day of the Dead theme.

Our original plans were big, however with such little time for body-painting and shooting, we found we were not able to fully carry out our ideas – so this is a project to be developed. I’m looking forward to the next step.

Special thanks to Sally Stone at West Yorkshire Playhouse Costumer Department for lending us the clothes! 🙂

Lunar Rising

24 Mar

Today I worked with one of my favourite collaborative partners; artist Abi Wright (AKA Lunar Rising).

This project was based in Abi’s university work, looking at the effects of the cosmetics industry on women. I needed to make up three models, as per Abi’s brief. Below is an example of the work done! Abi took the final shots, which I edited.

Lunar Rising has recently been mentioned in Liberty Voice Online for her artistic fashion works, namely the MOTH clothing collection (produced by re-working garments through unravelling them). She’s an ever motivated and innovative individual, turning her hand to anything in order to develop her creative abilities.

SHOOT: Pretty Grunge; with Scott Salt & Lunar Rising

22 Nov

Today I decided to do a quick practice fashion shoot, with my favourite model and photographer – Abi Wright and Scott Salt!

Initially the shoot was meant to be a boho experimentation, linking to my  Task 2 work so I could practice my make-up. However, having just received many new beautiful items in the post, I decided instead to style based on my new pretty pieces.

I still used the main principles of my Task 2, keeping to an English Rose style of makeup, though darkening it for the black outfits. I also managed to still involve curled volume (after using hot sticks) and plaits in the hair, keeping the style simple and elegant.

Overall I’m really happy with the shoot, I need to develop my fashion portfolio and I am quickly gaining confidence now in this style of makeup after recently having the realisation I can literally draw, paint and create whatever I want. Seems a simple revelation but it’s taken a while to come to terms with it!

Photo Shoot: Experimenting with Fashion Shots!

16 May

Yesterday I was in the studio again, doing hair and makeup for two of my favourite people, Alix Dent and Lunar Rising!

We met up with photographer Anthony Roberts for a fashion based experimental shoot and got some GORGEOUS images! I’ll be able to show you these in a few weeks, but for now – here’s a little taster!

We went into the studio with suitcases full of clothes and bags of shoes and makeup, not having a clue what we were going to shoot. We managed to get four different looks (which i will explain more about once we have images) and ended up with ideas pouring out and bouncing off each other – we have at least 4 more ideas we will be revisiting to shoot in the coming weeks!

Such a great team! Can’t wait to work with them again.
